When's the causeway open?

Twice that day, and only twice. The windows below are that day's tide times, not a rough guide.

  • 09:40–13:10 Arrivals cross in this window, on foot, over the full 1.2 km.

  • 21:45 The last set ends here, so everyone reaches the causeway in time.

  • 22:15–01:30 Departures cross back in this window, again going by that day's tide.

  • Nobody crosses outside those windows. The harbour boat is for emergencies only, not a late lift home.

What's to eat, and what to pack?

  • Food comes from two island kitchens, and both cash and card are fine.

  • No single-use plastic on the island. Bring a cup, or buy an enamel one for £6.

  • Wear boots. Parts of the causeway are wet sand and seaweed, so trainers won't enjoy it.
