Crossing

So when's the causeway actually open?

Two windows on the day, set by that day's tide times. Arrivals cross between 09:40 and 13:10, and departures between 22:15 and 01:30.

No crossings at all outside those windows, in either direction. The harbour boat is there for emergencies only, not for late arrivals.

The last set ends at 21:45, with time to walk back to the causeway.

Boots.

Parts of the causeway are wet sand and seaweed, so trainers are a bad idea.

Island

What's there to eat, and what about cups?

Food comes from two island kitchens, and both cash and card work fine.

  • No single-use plastic anywhere on the island, not even one cup.
  • So bring a cup, or buy an enamel one there for £6.

Trust

Who runs the festival, and where does the money go?

The Skerrow Island Trust runs the festival, and the Trust is a volunteer charity. Every bit of profit goes to repairing the sea wall.

Fourth year running, then, since the first Causeway was held back in 2024.
